My beloved daughter is two years old now. She has been a light on my life since before her birth — if that makes sense. She taught me to just enjoy things that I have and not to worry too much about the future…

It’s interesting how when we travel, some people just look at Amira and smile.. at a seminar, Ikea, etc. Today we went to the zoo, where Amira saw many animals with her own eyes, for the first time in her life. I enjoyed looking at her reaction when we pointed out giraffes, lions, elephant, and leopards.

Rasulullah pernah berkata kepada Bilal (paraphrasing nih): Hai Bilal, kumandangkanlah azan agar kita bisa istirahat. Shalat itu dipandang sebagai break pendek, di mana seorang Muslim bisa recharge dan siap menghadapi tantangan hidup berikutnya.  JAdi tidak melulu nongkrong di mesjid, atau melulu sibuk dengan kerjaan dunia — harus ada keseimbangan. Saya menemukan bahwa, shalat memang bisa jadi istirahat– dengan syarat shalat tersebut harus khusyu’; kalau dalam shalat pun kita sibuk memikirkan dunia, maka tidak ada efeknya.
