Places I’d like to visit before I get too old..

Well, it doesn’t mean that I won’t go if the situation warrants it.
I won’t pull my hair out if I don’t get a chance to travel. Remember, I’m the guy who thought he would spend the rest of his life in Medan, Indonesia. Okay, okay.. so if I could visit any place I like, where would I go? Let me throw some names, Hebei province, Taklimakan desert, Easter Island, Nazca lines, Mauritius.. So, looking at these places, can anybody tell me what the pattern is here? Where do I get these places from?
Mostly books. Extra points for those who know what books these came from.
But, I’d be just fine if I live in a 100 mile radius for the rest of my life.. like Bedouins, who often don’t know how old they are, and they don’t care. The modern day needs would compel me to go places though.. work, family, etc.
